TL;DR: Flat-pack is temporary; bespoke provides tailored storage. This project created custom his-and-hers wardrobes for unique space and needs, inspired by neutral tones and client style. Functionality and simple design were key.
Planning focused on visible details and seamless inset doors. Creation involved careful hardware selection and standardized measurements. The result: elegant, functional wardrobes offering flexible storage and lasting style.

Ask

Fitted bedroom furniture
Flat-pack furniture does provide an efficient, economical and temporary solution for your new home. But there is no substitute for bespoke furniture. Here the ask was simple; Design and build his-and hers bespoke wardrobes that satisfied a definite storage need, customised to requirements and will fit an unique room shape while maximising space. Simples!
02 Research and Inspiration

These custom-built wardrobes drew inspiration from a neutral greys and rich textured wood colour palette. It also sympathised with the rooms ambient lighting, abstract art paintings and other aesthetics personal to this client.
03 Imagine

This process was organic. Maximise function (storage), respect to other period features, a neutral colours palette for longevity, and a design queue which follows a simplistic shaker style with form-over-function driving design decisions.
04 Planning

Building big-box furniture carcasses is bread-and-butter. The focus here would be on the doors styles and decoration, accessories and other front facing elements.
With wardrobe design, there has to be a clear understanding of joinery methods, but also hinge mechanisms and the infamous euro hinge. This design was focused on the Inset type, so the goal was always to allow a smooth, unified and aligned vision when all four doors were closed.
05 Create

Maintaining Standards
Following an intensive planning stage it was now time to get creative. At this point, it was about the details, about the handles and the hinges and standardising measurements. It’s important to build a bespoke offer but where possible – there is no need to re-invent standards.
